Technical data
The chargers of the C3-400 series are built in primary switched circuit technology. They generate a regulated output voltage and are used to load maintenance-free lead batteries and to supply power to connected user loads which are in standby parallel mode. Loading characteristics adapted to their particular applications with a constant DC voltage and a low AC share ensure a maximum battery life.

The power supplies have a single-phase power supply and an output power up to 800 watts. Doubling the performance, the devices can be connected in parallel. A bus line provides a uniform load distribution. The units are built according to the following standards:

All units are equipped with a PFC (Power Factor Corrector), which means that the power factor is corrected to almost 1. The charging voltage is compensated according to the temperature if an external temperature sensor is connected. The sensor can also be connected later.

In addition to the PFC the power supply contains a high frequency converter (100 kHz to 300 kHz) with a transformer for the galvanic separation of the output. The power element of the electrical power supply is designed as resonant converter in half-bridge circuit. In this type of circuit almost no shift losses of the transistors occur. Furthermore, no snubbers for semiconductors are needed, so an efficiency of about 93% is achieved within a very compact design. The control of the PFC and the high-frequency transducer works on the primary side completely digital by using a DSP controller. No analog control components need to be applied. That is how one could do without a shunt for measuring the output current (sensorless control).

Mechanical design
Case-mounted. A temperature-controlled fan provides adequate cooling in case of over 300 watts of power. Mains, battery, and consumers are connected by terminals. The battery and the consumers are protected up to 25A by built-in fuse. In case of more than 25A external fuses are to be connected. The device meets the protection class II. On the front side a LED indicates the current flow (power good). Via terminals this display can also be connected externally. For the connection of a "battery full"- and a "interference"-display more terminals are existing. The devices are normally equipped with two mounting brackets for installation. As an option a top-hat rail mounting design is available.

The devices meet the basic requirements of the law relating to electromagnetic compatibility. 89/336/EEC, EMC Directive, 73/23/EEC low voltage directive.
